On July 24, 2019, Allergan announced a world-wide recall of Biocell textured breast implants and tissue expanders at the urging of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The recall was indicated because of an increased risk of a cancer known as Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, or BIA-ALCL.
